This is an interactive page (a javascript-enabled browser is required) for formulating the shear and moment equations for a determinate beam supported by a pin and a roller support. The beam could carry up to two loads: a concentrated load of 5 kN and a uniformly distributed load of 8 kN/m.
You can change the position of each load or support by slowly dragging and dropping it in the diagram below. The two applied loads can be moved off the beam, but the supports, although can be moved, have to remain under the beam to ensure its stability. Further, you can change the length of the distributed load by dragging the red bar located at the right end of the rectanglar load when it is placed on the beam.
This problem originates from Video Lecture ST10.
